Keywords:
Women in Urdu literature, Social change, Gender roles, Feminism in Urdu literatureAbstract
The role of women in Urdu literature has evolved significantly, reflecting societal changes from the past to the present. In classical Urdu literature, women were often portrayed in traditional roles, primarily focusing on domestic duties, beauty, and moral virtue. However, modern Urdu literature has witnessed a significant shift, with women emerging as independent characters who challenge societal norms and engage in various professional, social, and intellectual roles. This paper aims to explore the transformation of the portrayal of women in Urdu literature, highlighting the changing dynamics and the influence of socio-political changes on these representations. The study also examines how contemporary Urdu literature reflects the struggles and empowerment of women.
