Abstract

The development of Urdu novels over time reflects the changing socio-political, cultural, and intellectual landscapes of the Indian subcontinent. The Urdu novel has undergone significant transformations from its inception to the contemporary era, influenced by historical events, literary trends, and the evolution of language itself. Modern trends in Urdu novels exhibit a diversification of themes, narrative techniques, and a closer reflection of societal issues. This article explores the historical development of the Urdu novel, focusing on its evolution and the contemporary trends shaping its growth in the current literary scene. Special emphasis is placed on how the modern Urdu novel adapts to new forms of storytelling while maintaining its cultural roots.
